#ThrowbackThursday: Velo Birmingham 2017

For this weeks #ThrowbackThursday we decided to share with you Matt’s journey to completing the Velo Birmingham in 2017!

There were plenty of ups and downs along the way but did Matt manage to complete the whole 100 miles? You’ll have to watch to find out!

Episode 1: 40 Mile Cycle

Episode One consisted of Matt’s first 40-mile cycle which is the furthest he’s ever travelled on a bike!

Favourite Quote: “Frankly all I’ll be doing is trying to get through it, I won’t be doing anything clever like intervals or anything like that”

Episode 2: No Bike in Houston

Matt explains in this episode what it is like to prepare for the Velo Birmingham when you have no bike.

Favourite Quote: “Yeah really simple just get yourself some Boudreaux’s Butt Cream”

Episode 3: Who Are You Talking To?

One of our favourites, this episode has a very special guest star.

Favourite Quote: “Who are you talking to?” “I’m talking to the video”

Episode 4: My First Puncture!

Matt has a challenge on his hands when he is faced with his first puncture, luckily a couple of strangers come to his rescue.

Favourite Quote: “I’d be lying if I said this has felt good this morning, it’s felt pretty rough”

Episode 5: Earthquake in Mexico

Cycling takes a back step in this episode as Matt tries to comprehend being woken in the middle of the night by a magnitude 8 earthquake.

Favourite Quote: “I was asleep and woke up to what felt like someone picking up my bed”

Episode 6: Feeling Sick

Matt’s final week before the Velo Birmingham doesn’t go quite to plan as an illness forces him out of action.

Favourite Quote: “We’re all set to go really, except for the fact I’d much rather be far more prepared”

Episode 7: Final Episode

Finally, it was time for Matt to put all his practice to good use, watch to find out whether he managed to finish the whole 100 miles!

Favourite Quote: “There’s loads of people, all in Lycra…How could that possibly go wrong?”

As one of the newest members of the team, I have the perfect opportunity to learn and develop alongside an inspiring group of people. Whilst a lot of my effort goes towards completing my apprenticeship in digital marketing, you may also find me running a project or two along the way as I aim to stretch myself and get involved in all aspects of the business.
