What is ILM?

The Institute of Leadership Management (ILM) helps organisations and individuals to build leadership, management and coaching skills through market-leading qualifications, training resources and certification of in-house programmes. We work with ILM to deliver the most popular bespoke leadership and management programmes which are accredited to the ILM qualifications.
ILM qualifications are made up of individual units (topics of study). As an ILM approved centre we customise these units in collaboration with you to offer you a tailor-made training solution unique to your organisation.

Our Programmes

Level 3 Leadership and Management Award/Certificate

This qualification is for everyone who has management responsibilities but lacks formal training. This programme is designed to help team leaders or junior managers to move up to the next level of management. The course will provide individuals with the skills to lead people through organisational change, budget cuts or other pressures.

What the programme includes

You can take this qualification as a concise Award or as a broader Certificate. The units in this qualification fall into seven broad areas. These are:

  • core management skills – such as understanding how to organise and delegate
  • ability to perform management tasks –manage projects, lead meetings
  • team leadership – for example, how to motivate people to improve performance
  • change and innovation  – plan and manage change, create a culture of innovation
  • a full range of communications skills
  • managing people and relationships – negotiation, networking, building relationships
  • leadership – understand leadership, use action learning to develop your leadership capabilities.

Level 5 Leadership and Management Award

This qualification is designed for project managers, department heads, and other practising middle managers. This Programme will help you to develop your skills and experience, improve your performance and prepare for senior management responsibilities.

What the programme includes

This qualification is available as a concise Award. Each unit in this qualification focuses on a specific set of skills and knowledge, in six broad areas:

  • Working with people – a range of units including how to deal effectively with stress and conflict, manage remote workers, build excellent customer relations
  • Managing yourself and personal skills – including units that focus on assessing your own leadership performance,  and developing critical thinking
  • Providing direction – such as leading teams to achieve organisational goals and objectives, and making strong and informed management decisions.
  • Facilitating innovation and change – for example, build a culture of continued improvement, and lead people through change
  • Achieving results – such as managing for efficiency and effectiveness, and managing projects that get results
  • Using resources – including managing facilities and managing information.

Level 5 Coaching and Mentoring Certificate

This programme is ideal if you are a manager with significant responsibility for coaching and mentoring as part of your day-to-day role. It will also support you if you are planning to move into a development role in your organisation or start a career as a freelance coach and mentor.

This programme will ensure managers are properly equipped with the skills, knowledge and ethical understanding they need to develop a coaching and mentoring culture in the organisation. Furthermore, the programme encourages managers to provide effective support for the development of others and improve their performance.

What the programme includes

There are three mandatory units in this qualification.

  • The first unit, Understanding the skills, principles and practice of effective management coaching and mentoring aims to enable you to understand the role and contribution of coaching and mentoring, and build a business case.
  • The second unit, Reviewing own ability as a management coach or mentor aims to give you the ability to critically review your own personal qualities, skills and competence.
  • The third unit requires you demonstrate your ability to plan, deliver and review at least 12 hours of coaching and mentoring in your workplace.
